Getting Started

The basics of setting up your selfie booth

Event Selfie Studio is a web-based selfie booth platform that lets event guests upload photos from their own phones. Photos appear in real time on a slideshow display — perfect for weddings, corporate events, parties, and conferences. No app download required for guests.

After signing up and logging into your admin dashboard, click "Create Event" and fill in the event name, date, and optional description. Your event is instantly ready — you'll get a unique URL and QR code that guests can use to start uploading selfies right away.

No special hardware is required. You just need a screen or projector to display the slideshow (any device with a web browser works — laptop, tablet, smart TV, or Raspberry Pi). Guests use their own smartphones to upload photos.

You can be up and running in under 5 minutes. Create an account, set up your event, print or display the QR code, and open the slideshow URL on your display screen. That's it.

Slideshow & Display

Setting up and customising your live display

Each event has a dedicated slideshow URL. Open it in any web browser on the device connected to your display — a laptop plugged into a projector, a smart TV, or even a tablet. Use full-screen mode (F11 on most browsers) for the best experience. The slideshow updates automatically as new photos are approved.

Yes. You can upload a default image or video for each event. This plays in a loop when there are no new uploads to show — great for displaying sponsor logos, event branding, or a welcome message. When a new selfie arrives, it appears on screen automatically, then returns to the default.

Yes. In your event settings, you can set the slide duration between 3 and 10 seconds. This controls how long each photo stays on screen before transitioning to the next one.

Absolutely. The slideshow is a lightweight web page that runs well on Raspberry Pi devices with Chromium in kiosk mode. This is a popular, cost-effective setup for permanent or semi-permanent selfie stations. Use the /current URL so the display automatically switches to whichever event you mark as current.

Guest Experience

How guests interact with the selfie booth

Guests scan the QR code (or visit the event URL) on their phone. They can either take a new photo using their camera or select one from their gallery. They tap upload and it appears on the slideshow. No app download, no account creation — it works in any mobile browser.

No. Everything works through the mobile web browser. Guests simply scan the QR code, and the upload page opens instantly. This keeps the barrier to participation as low as possible.

Yes. There's an optional caption field on the upload page. Guests can add a short message to their photo before submitting it.

The upload page is designed to work on all modern smartphones. If a guest has trouble, make sure they've granted camera permissions in their browser. They can also skip the camera and choose an existing photo from their gallery instead.

QR Codes & Sharing

Getting guests connected to your event

Every event automatically gets a unique QR code. When guests scan it with their phone camera, it opens the upload page directly in their browser. You can display the QR code on printed posters, table cards, or on a screen at the venue.

Yes. The admin panel includes a poster generator that creates professional-looking posters with the QR code embedded. You can choose landscape or portrait orientation, and link the QR to either a specific event or the reusable /snap URL that always points to your current event.

The /snap URL is a reusable link that always redirects to whichever event you've marked as "current" in your dashboard. This means you can print one set of QR codes or posters and reuse them across multiple events — just change which event is set as current.

Yes. There's an option to overlay the QR code directly on the slideshow display. You can choose which corner it appears in (top-left, top-right, bottom-left, or bottom-right) from the advanced settings.

Photo Moderation

Keeping your event display appropriate

Yes. Each event can be set to manual moderation mode. In this mode, uploaded photos go into a review queue where you can approve or reject them before they appear on the slideshow. This gives you full control over what's displayed.

AI moderation automatically scans uploaded images for inappropriate or unsafe content. Flagged images are held for your manual review rather than being displayed immediately. You can adjust the sensitivity thresholds in the advanced settings. This is available on Pro plans and above.

Yes. If you trust your guests and want a seamless experience, you can set the event to auto-approve mode. Every upload appears on the slideshow immediately without any review step. You can still remove photos manually afterwards if needed.

Yes. The media review panel lets you rotate photos, approve or reject them, and permanently delete any uploads. This works regardless of which moderation mode you're using.

Customisation & Branding

Making the selfie booth your own

Yes. On Pro plans and above, you can upload a custom watermark logo that appears as a semi-transparent overlay on all slideshow images. This is great for corporate branding, sponsor visibility, or event logos.

Yes. In the advanced settings, you can add links to your Facebook, Instagram, Twitter/X, TikTok, and Snapchat profiles. These are associated with your tenant and can be displayed alongside your events.

Yes. The platform interface supports multiple languages. This is available on Pro plans and above, making it easy to run events for international audiences.

White-label branding is available on Enterprise plans. This lets you remove Event Selfie Studio branding entirely and replace it with your own, perfect for agencies and large event companies.

Technical Questions

Browser support, connectivity, and troubleshooting

Event Selfie Studio works on all modern browsers — Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and Edge. For guests uploading photos, any smartphone browser from the last few years will work. For the slideshow display, we recommend Chrome or Edge for the best full-screen experience.

The slideshow requires an internet connection to receive new uploads in real time. However, if connectivity drops briefly, the slideshow will continue displaying the photos it has already loaded and will resume fetching new ones when the connection returns.

Yes. All plans include API access. You can programmatically create events, upload media, and retrieve event data. This is useful for integrations with other event management tools or custom workflows.

All data is hosted on AWS infrastructure with encrypted storage. Photos are stored in S3 with CloudFront delivery. We use JWT-based authentication, and the platform supports multi-tenant isolation so each customer's data is completely separate.

Yes. Pro and Enterprise plans include a bulk download feature. From the advanced settings, you can download all approved media for an event as a ZIP file — perfect for sharing with clients or archiving after the event.
